Brexit Lecture - 14th March 2019

Lewes U3A has great pleasure in inviting both members and non-members to our revamped series of public lectures beginning on Thursday 14 March at 7pm in the Assembly Room of Lewes Town Hall with Professor Adam Tickell speaking on ‘Brexit’.
Adam Tickell is the University of Sussex’s eighth Vice Chancellor. He has worked in leadership positions at the University of Birmingham, the University of Bristol and at Royal Holloway, University of London.
A highly regarded economic geographer, Professor Tickell’s work in developing new political economic geography is amongst the most influential of his generation. His work has explored finance, English local governance and the politics of ideas.
Adam is a strong advocate for freedom of speech and has met with senior politicians from across the political divide in Westminster on a number of issues on behalf of the higher education sector.
Since his arrival at Sussex he has championed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at Sussex and created the new role of Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor for Equality and Diversity shortly after he joined the University in 2016.
At the time of advertising this talk, no one, including our current government, knows what will happen, if anything, after 11pm GMT Friday 29 March 2019.
Join us in the presence of the Mayor of Lewes to hear what one of our most prominent academic leaders thinks will happen two weeks before the event which may affect all our lives for decades to come.
There should be ample time for questions.
