Bonfire Tour of Lewes - 1st November 2015

Every year , Lewes becomes the centre of attraction for thousands of visitors - hundreds of burning torches , barrels of burning tar rolled down its streets , burning crosses and burnt effigies . Join me to discover how religious intolerance and political ambition led to death and destruction in Tudor times .

During the walk we will explore the ruined priory of St Pancras , find out how Henry VIII's search for a son led to bloody revenge in the reign of Queen Mary , and hear about the history of the Lewes Bonfire Boys and their clashes with the law !
