See what our guests are saying about their time spent at Nightingales B&B

I stayed one night in this very comfortable B&B whilst walking the South Downs Way. My room, overlooking the garden, was large and comfortable, and the bathroom immaculate. Jean was very welcoming, providing tea and home made flapjacks on arrival, and an excellent breakfast the following day.

We stayed there for one night and we had a very beautiful and clean room. The house is beautiful and very calm. We had a very good breakfast with a lot of choices. We spent the afternoon in the garden with a cup of tea and cakes. I definitely recommend it.

We have stayed at Nightingales many times. I have always had a warm welcome from Jean and the house is lovely . Well furnished and spotless. We love to have breakfast in the large conservatory overlooking the garden with the doors open. Breakfast is always a delight with a good choice and my tea poured from a silver teapot. Why do we stay here at least 4 times a year, because it is the best B and B for miles around and it has a charming host, Jean.

Spent one night at this wonderful B&B after a hectic day in Brighton. The rooms are comfortable and clean with excellent ensuite bathroom and toilet facilities. Situated in the peaceful village of Kingston just outside Lewes it’s an ideal alternative to Brighton or Lewes. Leave the car at Lewes and get the train into Brighton or walk the South Downs way from here. Breakfast is excellent. The village pub ( The Juggs) serves good, if basic pub food and can get busy so book if you want a meal at the weekend. I would highly recommend this B&B.

This was the homely welcome we were crying out for after a 24 mile walk. Jean made us feel very welcome and we were grateful for the tea and cake on arrival. The room and en-suite bathroom were very clean and comfortable and on a hot night we really appreciated the cool air through the shutters. The garden is a beautiful oasis and we woke to the most amazing dawn chorus we’ve ever heard. Breakfast fulfilled all expectations and we again enjoyed Jean’s company.
Thank you for a very comfortable stay.

We have been to Jean Hudson’s delightful B&B many times and it is still one of the best near Glyndebourne. We went to see La Finta Jardiniera (which was very interesting - they destroyed the scenery which is unusual in an opera!) and got back just after nine and had a lovely evening exchanging reminiscences with friends in the comfortable sitting room.

The two bedrooms are still of the highest quality, the breakfast was good, and Jean Hudson is very friendly. The garden is a delight at this time of year.

Her house is very near the South Downs’ Way so we had a lovely walk on top of the world in the morning.

We will return.
